Yikes! That was my very first reaction when I knew that I had to design a book jacket for a book named Hindsights, written by Guy Kawasaki. It's very much like a self-help book. I was pretty turned off. You know, picture books and books about the Artic are pretty much the only kind of books I'm interested in.
Doing my word list, I typed in Hindsights on the Google bar and I got to his blog on this article. I was just scanning through, scrolling along the page up and down, being all whiny until I spotted something - #10: Live off your parents as long as possible. It caught my attention. I was like, who the hell is this writer?
I read this entire blog entry and honestly, it's a pretty inspirational page. Well, at least it is to me.
You might think the 10 points I listed below are nothing interesting. Well, wait till you read the examples he wrote. I'm not sure what or how it helped me, but it definitely reminds me of some stuff I always forget - #1 Enjoy your family and friends before they are gone.
#10: Live off your parents as long as possible.
#9: Pursue joy, not happiness.
#8: Challenge the known and embrace the unknown.
#7: Learn to speak a foreign language, play a musical instrument, and play non-contact sports.
#6: Continue to learn.
#5: Learn to like yourself or change yourself until you can like yourself.
#4: Don't get married too soon.
#3: Play to win and win to play.
#2: Obey the absolutes.
#1: Enjoy your family and friends before they are gone.
I got a better understanding of the book. I feel more excited to design a book jacket for it now.
I hope it did inspires you, a little at least. ♥
P/S: Hope it doesn't strain your eyes that much, now that I've darken the value of my blog text (instead of the initial white on black). ♥
